CrossFit Kanna’s February Member of the Month: Mike H.

Mike H. came in 100% committed to changing years of unhealthy habits. Within just the first month he saw huge changes in performance and body composition, losing 20 lbs by changing his diet. Since joining in August, Mike has consistently shown up to our noon classes and been open to coaching and striving for improvement. He has a great sense of humor and ability to see the bigger picture when it comes to health and wellness. Although he could still be considered a novice in CrossFit terms, Mike is a great addition to the Kanna community and we’re thrilled he decided to give us a shot. Congratulations Mike!

When did you start CF?
It was hot – August 14, 2017

What are your favorite numbers and why?
1, 2, 6

What CF movements do you like?
Hang Power Clean, Back Squats, Sit-ups, Push-ups

What CF movements do you dislike?
Rowing, Burpees

What sports or fitness things did you do before CF?
Long Distance Road Cycling, Skateboarding, Basketball, Soccer , Swimming

How did you find CF? What was your first workout?
I can see the box from my desk, and i saw Chris and others running by the window.

What’s your favorite thing about CF? (either CF in general or about Kanna or both)
Proximity to work, Accountability, Holistic approach to exercise

What are your hobbies?
Banjo, Guitar, Woodworking

What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I have a collection of plastic animals that numbers in the 1000’s

What PRs or accomplishments are you most proud of? (e.g. PR on a deadlift, getting a muscle-up, participation in the Open, etc)
Finding a workout routine and sticking with it.

What’s on your CF bucket list?
Seeing my abs without flexing them and sucking in my gut.

What’s on your general bucket list?
Having a career that doesn’t feel like work.

What advice do you have for new (or experienced!) CrossFitters?
Crossfitness is a long game. Go slow at first. No one cares if you take twice as long as everyone else. Just show up.
