Kanna Fitness is proud to recognize David Giuliani as our Member of the Month for November! Since joining us in July 2023, David has been a consistent and positive force in class—always ready to work hard, learn new skills, and connect with others. A former college basketball player, David brings that same team-first energy to the gym, whether it’s tackling a tough workout, showing up for events like the Intramural Open, or diving into skill clinics to improve his pull-ups. Despite dealing with some joint issues, he approaches every workout with grit, humility, and good humor. His dedication, steady progress, and upbeat presence make him an inspiration to those around him, and a natural choice for this month’s spotlight. Congratulations, David!

What are your favorite numbers and why?
5, 25, and 32 – these were my basketball numbers over the years
What movements do you like?
power cleans, front squats, pull-ups, and box jumps
What movements do you dislike?
Running, rowing, snatch
What sports or fitness things did you do before Kanna?
I played sports, especially basketball my whole life, all the way through college. After that, I tried lifting, running, and swimming, but nothing really clicked. I’ve always enjoyed being active with others, so I realized I needed something with that same team energy.
How did you find Kanna? How did you feel when you first walked in?
I actually found Kanna through a Google search and came in to meet Chris not long after. From the moment I walked in, everyone was super welcoming — it didn’t feel intimidating at all. The energy in the gym was awesome, and you could tell people genuinely enjoy being there. It immediately felt like the perfect fit for me.
What’s your “why” for working out?
I do it to stay healthy, push myself to do hard things, and so I can enjoy all the food I love.
What’s your favorite thing about Kanna?
My favorite thing about Kanna is the people! The energy is awesome, and the community here keeps me motivated and excited to show up every day.
What are your hobbies?
I’m enjoy playing basketball, golfing, checking out new restaurants, and playing with my dog
What’s something most people don’t know about you or a fun fact?
I’m a personal finance nut and run an intense household budget.
What PRs or accomplishments (fitness-related) are you most proud of?
No specific PR’s but I’m proud that I have stayed consistent and built a routine around coming to Kanna every week for over 2 years

Sightseeing and eating around Europe
What advice do you have for people new to Kanna?
My advice for new members is simple – just show up. Everyone starts somewhere, and the community here will meet you where you are. Don’t worry about being perfect — focus on getting a little better each day and have fun with it.

Just want to say a huge thank you to the Kanna coaches and members for creating such an awesome community. Everyone’s energy, encouragement, and positivity make it easy to show up and give your best every day. I’m really grateful to be part of it!

How does one become Member of the Month? By embodying the Kanna ideals of Learning, Working Hard, and Having Fun. By contributing to the community and supporting others in and out of the workout. By being open to coaching and improving oneself for the sake of being better, not to “win” the workout. By just generally being a good person and having a positive attitude. And a lot more, but you get the idea!
