Name
Salina Kearns
Occupation
A facilitator/ work with my husband.
When did you start Kanna?
May of 2021
What are your favorite numbers and why?
3,6,9. Positivity Method
What CF movements do you like?
Kettlebell swings, bar muscle ups, pull-ups
What CF movements do you dislike?
Running
What sports or fitness things did you do before CF?
When I walked, it was fast. Like a mall walker. I was active, I could move easily but I have never worked out.
How did you find Kanna? What was your first workout?
I kept seeing a sign on the street. Found out it was right behind my house and thought “Haaa ha, there is no excuse now is there?” My first workout was the Murph. Between base camp and the Murph I probably felt my soul leave my body about 3 times. I was a smoker at that time also. Oooohhh, I feel like I am having a Vietnam flashback.
What’s your favorite thing about Kanna?
The coaches. They really like their craft and it shows when each of us levels up, when we see results. I feel like they are a big part of my personal workout adventure.
What are your hobbies?
I read a lot. I’m a crafty person. Listening to gossip.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I am completely comfortable singing in front of a large audience, but I prefer no one watch me while I work out… or at least pretend they are not looking ????
What PRs or accomplishments are you most proud of?
Rowing assessment! I got brown!
What’s on your Fitness bucket list?
Pull-ups. I want to be able to do at least 2 in a row.
What’s on your general bucket list?
Going to Scotland and bumping into a Scottish Highlander and whisk me away like a Calgon commercial. I think I would like to sell my house, purchase an RV and see the country with my husband.
What advice do you have for new (or experienced!) CrossFitters?
The biggest fear is something new. You mentally got passed the fear by signing up for Kanna (which shows that you really are a strong person) now show up and show yourself what you can do.
Anything else you’d like to mention?
I would just like to say thank you for putting up with me. Yous are the real MVP’s!
***Kanna members: Salian’s custom workout is TBD***
How does one become Member of the Month? By embodying the Kanna ideals of Learning, Working Hard, and Having Fun. By contributing to the community and supporting others in and out of the workout. By being open to coaching and improving oneself for the sake of being better, not to “win” the workout. By just generally being a good person and having a positive attitude. And a lot more, but you get the idea!
