How did you find CF? What was your first workout?
My wife (Stacy) gave it a try and I watched one of her workouts. I fell in love with the intensity and the diversity of movements. It stayed in the back of my head for a while, and when I finally became disenchanted with the big gyms, I tried Kanna.
What’s your favorite thing about CrossFit?
First and foremost: the social interaction, fellow accountability, and common purpose of regular people/members/friends. Second: the intensity, diversification of movements, and ability to quantify results.
What are your hobbies?
Outside of CrossFit: Business, Hiking/Camping, Bass Guitar, Politics, Tequila.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
Fairly well traveled due to my international business. Been to: Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Bolivia, Uruguay, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, India, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand.
What PRs or accomplishments are you most proud of?
Climbing the rope – I never got the technique until Kanna. Also, seeing gradual improvements in my push-ups which were a weakness of mine due to elbow joint pain.
What’s on your CF bucket list?
HSPU, Kipping Pull-up
What’s on your general bucket list?
Space travel
What advice do you have for new (or experienced!) CrossFitters?
We know you’re not a professional CrossFitter, neither are we, so don’t be nervous or shy. Jump right in and be a part of the family. If you have fun, you’ll stay fit.
Anything else you’d like to mention?
Coaches make the difference. Each coach has something unique to offer. For them it seems more than just a paycheck.
***Kanna members: Kevin’s custom workout will be TBD (obviously)***
How does one become Member of the Month? By embodying the Kanna ideals of Learning, Working Hard, and Having Fun. By contributing to the community and supporting others in and out of the workout. By being open to coaching and improving oneself for the sake of being better, not to “win” the workout. By just generally being a good person and having a positive attitude. And a lot more, but you get the idea!
