What movements do you dislike?
What sports or fitness things did you do before Kanna?
I played competitive sports my whole life, including soccer and basketball through adulthood. I have always been into running and lifting weights. I gave Crossfit a try after my oldest son was born in 2016 while living in Philadelphia.
How did you find Kanna? What was your first workout?
We unexpectedly moved back to the area in August 2019. I was looking for a new gym that was in a convenient location. I toured Kanna, everything sounded good, and I joined shortly thereafter. I don’t remember what the first workout was, but was very curious how they made it work in the old space.
What’s your favorite thing about Kanna?
The coaches are knowledgeable and genuinely care about the members. The space and equipment are also top-notch.
What are your hobbies?
Following Philadelphia sports teams, travel, business/sales, technology, and cooking
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I was good enough at soccer at one point in my life that my team traveled to Europe to train and play.
What PRs or accomplishments are you most proud of?
I have done the Broad Street Run a few times and PR’d this spring at 38 years old.
What’s on your Fitness bucket list?
Nothing specific – continuing to live an active lifestyle and staying healthy
What’s on your general bucket list?
Make it to San Sebastian, Spain – booked a trip for July 2020. We had to cancel due to COVID and then my wife got pregnant shortly thereafter with our 3rd child. Will have to put that one off for a few years.
What advice do you have for new (or experienced!) Members?
Don’t be afraid to try! The coaches know their stuff and the members are supportive.
Anything else you’d like to mention?
Be comfortable being uncomfortable! Nothing great comes easy.
***Kanna members: Andrew’s custom workout will be TBD***
How does one become Member of the Month? By embodying the Kanna ideals of Learning, Working Hard, and Having Fun. By contributing to the community and supporting others in and out of the workout. By being open to coaching and improving oneself for the sake of being better, not to “win” the workout. By just generally being a good person and having a positive attitude. And a lot more, but you get the idea!
