All squats except OH; burpees ( love/ hate) rowing

Burpees( love/ hate); pull- ups because I’m not there yet; running because it hurts my knee

How did you find CF? What was your first workout?
My daughter Marissa said I should try it.. she said the coaches looked really good. I said she was crazy because I had watched her do a CF competition
What’s your favorite thing about CrossFit?
The coaches, the people and the challenge! I feel like I’ve accomplished something after a workout. I like that the coaches constantly watch us. They correct when necessary and encourage constantly. This totally negates preconceived notions of what and how CF is. I also love our coaches.. each one is awesome, talented, a little crazy and unique… along with the members, they make it fun!
What are your hobbies?
CF, my dogs, flower arranging, reading especially mysteries, learning, traveling with my husband, watching my girls perform( Katie-bellydancing) and compete (Marissa- soccer and now Olympic weightlifting), snorkeling, baking and cake decorating
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I’ve gone spelunking, skydiving ( in the building), zip lining ( many times), jet skiing, land sailing, snorkeling with sharks, flying in a sea plane, biking down Mt Haleakala, dog sledding in Alaska, horseback riding in Jamaica and Hawaii, tobogganing twice; hiking in the Alps both Italy and Switzerland and I even walked the plank of a pirate ship twice ( which was pretty scary because it was a very long drop) and only twice did I almost hurt myself!
What PRs or accomplishments are you most proud of?
I’m proud after every class. I feel like every class is an accomplishment. I text my daughter what and how I did. Also, I am proud of participating in the Open… I saved all of my little score slips from the 2 that I participated in.
What’s on your CF bucket list?
Pull- up for sure… I think I will have a party when I can do one… improve my form for Snatch and CJ…do a weightlifting competition… Increase upper body strength overall!!
What’s on your general bucket list?
Go back to Bonaire to see the Ostracods; go to Germany & Ireland; make a difference but I haven’t figured out how yet
What advice do you have for new (or experienced!) CrossFitters?
Just do it… I can remember during base camp thinking ,” What the heck am I doing and what are all of these acronyms?—I will never remember all of this!” Now I’m doing it!!!! …keep consistent… you’ll be surprised at what you can do!
Anything else you’d like to mention?
Super grateful that I found Kanna … it was just what I needed…especially during these crazy times, it is a blessing to have a second family that has the common goal to stay/ get healthy and fit. Thank you Kanna!!! I appreciate it!!!
***Kanna members: Janine’s custom workout will be TBD (obviously)***
How does one become Member of the Month? By embodying the Kanna ideals of Learning, Working Hard, and Having Fun. By contributing to the community and supporting others in and out of the workout. By being open to coaching and improving oneself for the sake of being better, not to “win” the workout. By just generally being a good person and having a positive attitude. And a lot more, but you get the idea!
