August Member of the Month – Vinti S.

Vinti actually started with us by doing our yoga program. We guess she must have heard from the other members how great the fitness classes were because she decided to take the leap and try them out and hasn’t looked back. A consistent member since June 2021, Vinti is always very coachable, pushes her limits, and is a great member to have in class. She also got heavily involved with our thriving Book Club (noticing a theme with past MOTM’s??), so for all of these reasons and more, she is our August Member of the Month! When did you start at Kanna?

July 2021? (editor’s note: actually June 2021)

What are your favorite numbers and why?

14 – I’ve always just liked this number. It’s harmonious and calming to me.

What movements do you like?

Sit-ups, box jumps, running, deadlifts

What movements do you dislike?

Wall balls, rope climb (because I’m terrible at it), push press, burpees

What sports or fitness things did you do before Kanna?

Yoga, bouldering, biking

How did you find Kanna? What was your first workout?

I live very close by. I joined when Kanna offered yoga.

What’s your “why” for working out? 

I like to feel physically fit – that I can carry the vacuum down the stairs or groceries from the far without struggling. I can do what before would have been back breaking work when gardening. I have better endurance when biking and can do harder climbs when bouldering. It’s confidence building to know I have the strength to power me through life.

What’s your favorite thing about Kanna?

I love the community!

What are your hobbies?

Gardening, reading, trying new restaurants

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I can’t think of a good one!

What PRs or accomplishments (fitness-related) are you most proud of?

No specific PRs, but I notice I progressively getting stronger and can lift more in various weight lifting moves.

What’s on your fitness bucket list?

Being able to do a double under! One day! I did a 40-mile bike ride earlier this year. Would love to go longer for the next one.

What’s on your general bucket list?

Travel to Japan, do an awahuaska (check spelling) ceremony is Peru, write a book

What advice do you have for people new to Kanna?

Sometimes getting to the next level is more mental than physical. Believe you can do it.

Anything else you’d like to mention?

The coaches and staff at Kanna are great. This is a great community to be a part of.

How does one become Member of the Month? By embodying the Kanna ideals of Learning, Working Hard, and Having Fun. By contributing to the community and supporting others in and out of the workout. By being open to coaching and improving oneself for the sake of being better, not to “win” the workout. By just generally being a good person and having a positive attitude. And a lot more, but you get the idea!
