When did you start at Kanna?

December 2018

What are your favorite numbers and why?

2 and 14 Because those are my wife and kid’s birthdays. 11 Just because.

What movements do you like?

Push-ups and T2B clean and Jerk, power clean, barbell cycling, push-ups, rowing, air bike. I also like partner workouts I can do with Rach — I go, you go chippers.

What movements do you dislike?

Running, burpees, wall balls, air bike. I think I may also be the only person that does not like deadlifting.

What sports or fitness things did you do before Kanna?

Mountain bike. Did some P90x type stuff for a while.

How did you find Kanna? What was your first workout?

It was Rach’s idea. Wallball-shoulder press-bear crawl.

What’s your favorite thing about Kanna?

Variety of workouts, an encouraging atmosphere that gently pushes you outside your comfort zone.

What are your hobbies?

Mountain biking, hanging out with my wife and kids, video games.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

Kanna people would not know that I used to weigh 300 pounds.

What PRs or accomplishments (fitness-related) are you most proud of?

Brown 2 on weightlifting and API. Any time I hit a ramp drop or successfully clear a tabletop jump at a bike park.

What’s on your fitness bucket list?

Hm… Bar muscle up maybe? Not that I am too close on that. I would like to get Black on API too.

What’s on your general bucket list?

Mountain bike at Whistler. Travel more in Europe with Rach.

What advice do you have for people new to Kanna?

Don’t worry about how much you are lifting, no one cares about that.

***Kanna members: Dave’s custom workout will be TBD***

How does one become Member of the Month? By embodying the Kanna values of Learning, Working Hard, and Having Fun. By contributing to the community and supporting others in and out of the workout. By being open to coaching and improving oneself for the sake of being better, not to “win” the workout. By just generally being a good person and having a positive attitude. And a lot more, but you get the idea!
