When I first heard of CrossFit back in 2007, I stalked main site ( for a month. Every day they would release the workout and I would go look at their movement library to see what the heck a “thruster” was or these crazy “kipping” pull-ups. I found some message boards where people posted their results and offered scaling options and would read thread after thread about their experiences. I didn’t do a single CrossFit workout until Jan. 30, 2008, but once I did I was hooked.

Why did I wait a month before actually trying a workout? I don’t have a precise answer since it was over 10 years ago, but I suppose it was because of a few things:

-the movements were unlike anything I had ever done
-the people in these videos were ripped! How was I supposed to do these things if I didn’t look like them!?
-it was hard to start something I wasn’t good at

I’m sure there were more factors, but those are just some that come to mind.

We have a number of current members that tell me they were lurking on our website and social media for weeks or even months before joining. And I’d bet a lot of money there are more people who are doing the same now. Maybe it’s you!

Of course we love CrossFit and want you to start. We wouldn’t be in this business if we didn’t believe in it. But we also know firsthand that it can take some time to process what you’re getting yourself into. And that’s perfectly ok! But just like anything else, if you really want to understand what CrossFit is like you have to experience it. And the only way to do that is to book an intro so you can take a tour, talk about your goals, and see if it’s a good fit for you.

Chances are you will wish you did it sooner because that’s what we hear from members all the time.
